SUMMARY:Understanding the Emergency Petition Process
DESCRIPTION:This informative and interactive workshop will provide participants with the necessary information to understand the Extreme Risk Protective Order process and the Petition for Emergency Evaluation. The program will review clinical risk assessments\, safety planning and criteria needed for clinically licensed mental health professionals to complete an Emergency Petition. Participants will learn how to accurately complete the Petition for Emergency Evaluation court document.\nParticipant Learning Objectives: \n\nSummarize an understanding of the Petition for Emergency Evaluation (EP) and Extreme Risk Protective Order (ERPO) process in Maryland\nExplore clinical risk assessments and safety planning as they relate to the need for determination of involuntary commitments.\nExplain criteria needed for clinically licensed mental health professionals to complete an Emergency Petition\nDemonstrate the ability to accurately complete the Petition for Emergency Evaluation court document\n\n  \nFeaturing:\nCasey Crowley\, LCSW-C\, is currently the program director for the Washington County Mobile Crisis team through Sheppard Pratt. Casey has worked in the crisis field for approximately five years and has assisted the Mobile Crisis Team in expanding and moving to a 24/7 response availability. Casey received her Master’s in social work from Salisbury University and has a dual Bachelor’s degree from Towson University in public health and education.
